Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) described to podcaster Shawn Ryan how he and Donald Trump intend to resolve the Russian war against Ukraine.
"It would probably look like — is something like the current line of demarcation between Russia and Ukraine, that becomes a demilitarized zone so the Russians don't invade again and Ukraine remains its independent sovereignty and it doesn't join NATO or some of the sort of allied institutions," Vance proposed.
MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell said, "Some people would say that is surrender by Ukraine."

Rep. Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) agreed.
"Giving up your territory. Giving over your people, families to the country that has invaded them that has killed them and kidnapped their children," said Spanberger. "Just giving a portion of your country over."
She said it would be like a neighbor to the United States demanding Texas or Michigan be handed over.
"It sounds ridiculous, but in fact, that is what it is that he is proposing," she told Mitchell. "And this is after years of violent assault on these Ukrainian communities and these Ukrainian families and these Ukrainian communities. And so it speaks to his absolute lack of knowledge of foreign affairs and national security issues."
More importantly, however, she said Vance's comments speak "to his desire to not abide by kind of the basic tenants of democracy and freedom which is he's looking at a country that has been invaded and said they should walk away from their own people and obligations and their desire to maintain their sovereignty and their freedom."
She called it just another reason why Vance has no business being "one heartbeat away from the presidency."
