 causes and symptoms

The German Medical Journal reported that spinal stenosis is a narrowing that occurs in the canal through which the spinal cord passes with nerves and blood vessels.

The magazine explained that the causes of spinal stenosis lie in disc erosion, bulging or slipping, hormonal changes, and bone diseases such as Paget's disease .

Back pain extending to the legs
Symptoms of spinal stenosis include back pain, which extends to the legs, motor limitations and sensory disturbances in the legs, claudication, bladder and rectal disorders, and sexual dysfunction.

The magazine stressed the necessity of consulting a doctor immediately upon noticing these symptoms to avoid serious consequences that may result from spinal stenosis, such as paralysis. It noted that spinal stenosis is diagnosed through imaging procedures, such as magnetic resonance imaging and computer tomography.

Treatment and prevention
Treatment includes many methods, ranging from physical therapy, heat therapy, electrotherapy, orthotics (such as a support corset), and pain treatment. In serious cases, surgery can be used.

To prevent spinal canal stenosis, you should continue to practice muscle-strengthening exercises, and not adopt incorrect back positions, such as severe bending.
