A SQUADRON of US stealth jets has arrived in Israel — in a bid to prevent the World War Three threatened by Iran.

The American air force has deployed 12 of the latest Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor fighters as the region braces for all-out war.

Undetectable Raptors are the world’s most advanced warplanes.

They carry six radar-guided, medium-range air-to-air missiles plus short-range Sidewinder rockets and 480-round Gatling guns to decimate ground forces.

Their arrival was last night seen as a final warning to Iran and its Hezbollah terror troops to back off from threatening northern Israel.

The squadron is expected to patrol the skies around Israel’s borders — hammering any missile threat from Iran.

It will blast Hezbollah’s 50,000 fighters if they try to cross the border.

The 1,200mph warplanes cost £100million each — with a hi-tech pilot’s helmet alone notching up £250,000.

They can take off vertically and are equipped with electronic jamming technology.

A military source told The Sun on Sunday last night: “The arrival of the F-22s is a game-changer — and will send a serious warning to Iran and Hezbollah.

“The US is signalling that any attack by Iran or its proxies will be met by very serious force.”

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu had raised hopes of a deal to halt fighting in Gaza and free hostages by agreeing a “bridging” compromise.

But the proposal would have left Israeli units inside the coastal strip — so Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar turned it down.

Iran delayed trying to avenge the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh during the talks.

Their looming collapse leaves it poised to unleash allied troops in Lebanon.
