Israeli singer-songwriter and Netflix star Idan Amedi was in surgery on Monday evening, after being injured while fighting in Gaza.
Amedi was wounded on Monday in the central Gaza Strip, his family members said, according to Israeli news outlet Walla. He was airlifted to the Sheba hospital, where the actor is in a serious but stable condition. His life is no longer in danger.
Amedi is famous for his role as an undercover operative in the Netflix series “Fauda” — an award-winning show based on the experience of an elite Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit. Series creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff wished him a speedy recovery.
“Idan is a true hero and on the first day of the war he decided to put everything aside and go fight. First in the north and then in the south,” they said.
Shortly after the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, which killed more than 1,200 people and saw 250 hostages taken, Amedi signed up as a reservist to fight against the Palestinian militant group. He had previously completed mandatory service with the IDF in the combat engineering corps.
The Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health estimates that more than 22,000 Palestinians have been killed in the fighting amid relentless Israeli bombings and the IDF’s ground assault in Gaza.
