Some people use various materials to whiten their teeth, seeking to have a beautiful smile, without taking into account the side effects of some of these materials.
Dentist Maria Mikhailova points out that many people use products available in every home, such as lemon (the acid eats away at the enamel and destroys the teeth), soda (a rough abrasive that thins the enamel), and peroxide (used only in dental gels).
According to her, the safest option, but not the most effective, are whitening pastes with an abrasion level of up to 90, and for sensitive enamel - up to 50. As for whitening strips, pens and gels, they must be certified. Of course, the use of these materials gives the minimum level of bleaching required. Therefore, it is better to spend money on teeth cleaning and whitening at the dentist once every six months.
