Four people were killed and many injured after suspected arsonists set fire to the Benapole Express, a passenger train traveling from Benapole to Dhaka. The incident occurred two days before Bangladesh's general elections, which have been boycotted by the main opposition BNP. The train's carriages were set on fire near Kamalapur railway station. The motive behind the attack is believed to be an act of sabotage to intimidate people before the election. Several fire-wounded individuals were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's burn unit for treatment.
