The Brit led police on a Grand Theft Auto-style car chase along a Bali highway before smashing through a toll gate at the Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Dramatic footage shows Hills speeding in the hijacked truck with police in hot pursuit.

Hills allegedly kicked a sleeping driver out of the parked vehicle before driving across the Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai in the Kuta Utara District.

Photos later showed the Brit with a battered face and his hands bound with a yellow rope after he was arrested.

Inspector Putu Sukarma, Head of Public Relations Subdivision of Badung Police, said: “He took over the truck in a very rough manner.

“He opened the truck door then hit, grabbed and kicked the driver until he was thrown out of the truck.

“The perpetrator kicked the victim out of the vehicle, and at that time the victim tried to get into the truck to grab the steering wheel.

“After that, the truck moved forward and hit the motorbike parked in front of him, and the victim immediately jumped down onto the road.”

Authorities said two cars, several motorbikes, and two statues loaded onto the truck were damaged.

Hills also damaged iron fences, decorative pillars and toll gate entrance 6 at the airport, with more than £7,225 of damage caused.

He was arrested by airport security officers and police after he fled into the international airport terminal.

Hills is currently being detained at the Kuta Utara police station.

According to police, they have not been able to question Hill due to his “disoriented state”.

Kuta Utara Police Chief AKP Muhammad Rizky Fernandez said: “Up to this point in our investigation, his condition remains disoriented.

“It is still difficult to communicate with him.

“There are no indications of drunkenness or alcohol consumption so far, but today we will conduct a urine test on the foreign national.

He is set to be charged with theft under Article 365 of the Indonesian Penal Code, which carries a nine-year sentence.

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We are providing consular assistance to a British man currently detained in Bali and are in contact with the local authorities.”
