The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar announced on August 21 that the Chairman of the Military Council, General Min Aung Hlaing, said during his meeting with the Chinese Ambassador, Mrs. Ma Tiger, that Myanmar will do its best to protect Chinese projects and personnel.

The Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Trang handed over her ambassadorial appointment letter to Major General Min Aung Hlaing on August 21st.

At the appointment ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Ms. Ma said that she told the Chairman of the Military Council, General Min Aung Hlaing, to create a safe environment to practically maintain and protect the safety of Chinese projects and personnel in Myanmar.

General Min Aung Hlaing said that they discussed issues related to the successful implementation of Chinese projects and the promotion of defense and cooperation.

In addition to this, the military council newspapers reported that he talked about the stability of the border region and the reopening of border trade routes.

A political analyst, who did not want to be named for security reasons, said that China and the military council are seeing a mutual exchange of interests.

"The military leader will protect China's projects. China will prevent ethnic armed forces from fighting. In other words, it is a situation where mutual interests are exchanged. Under the current situation, he cannot recover from military defeats and this is what has happened."

The Myanmar Strategy and Policy Research Group (ISP - Myanmar) announced on August 19 that ten Chinese projects in northern Shan State and related areas can be fully controlled by ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) and the People's Defense Forces (PDF).
