Alper Ceziravci, the first Turkish astronaut, was involved in a traffic accident in Kocaeli Province.
The accident occurred in the Yenidogan neighborhood area on the D-100 highway in the direction of Ankara, where a medium bus collided with the car in which Geziravci was traveling from behind.
After medical and police teams were sent to the scene, he was transferred to Kocaeli City Hospital as a precaution by ambulance. He stated that he was in good health.
Kocaeli Governor Sedar Yavuz, who went to the Kocaeli City Hospital where Albert Ceziravci and the two people who were with him were taken, made a statement to reporters.
Yavuz stated that Geziravci and the two people who were with him were in good condition, and said: “All the necessary pictures and analyzes were conducted and examined. So far, no injuries have been discovered, and they are currently in the hospital for follow-up purposes.”
It is noteworthy that Geziravci is a military pilot and is considered the first Turkish astronaut, who flew to the International Space Station by participating in a special space flight planned by SpaceX to the International Space Station on January 18, 2024 with the Axiom Mission 3 (or Ax-3).
The Dragon capsule, carrying three astronauts, arrived at the International Space Station on January 20, at approximately 1:42 p.m. Turkish time, after a journey that took about 36 hours.
During the past months, Albert Gezeravje traveled from city to city and participated in chat programs with students, after returning from space.
