The main causes of impotence

Dr. Bator Gonchikov, a urologist and andrology specialist, points out that psychological problems are a common cause of impotence.

According to him, impotence, or erectile dysfunction, is a condition in which a man is unable to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. One of the main reasons is the aging of men and the lack of testosterone production.

“High blood pressure, atherosclerosis (cholesterol deposition on the walls of the arteries) and other cardiovascular diseases can damage the arteries and narrow the blood vessels in the reproductive organs, making it difficult to achieve an erection,” he told Gazeta news.

In addition, sexual dysfunction is observed in people with diabetes. Because an imbalance in blood sugar levels can damage the nerves and blood vessels needed for an erection.

"Another fairly common cause is psychological problems, including stress, depression, and anxiety. They have been shown to affect sexual function and lead to erection problems," he says. Pointing out that some medications used to treat other diseases may have side effects associated with deterioration of erectile function.

In addition, bad habits, such as smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, and lack of physical activity, reduce blood flow to the pelvic organs, which negatively affects the erection process.

He says: "It is important to know that every man has his own personality, so the causes of impotence may vary. If a man suffers from erection problems, it is best for him to consult a urologist or sexologist to diagnose the cause and prescribe the appropriate treatment."
