Palestinian media confirmed that the number of journalist martyrs had risen to 142 journalists since the start of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, after the death of journalist Salem Abu Tayur and his son Hamza in an Israeli occupation bombing that targeted their home in the Nuseirat camp in the middle of the Strip.
A Palestinian journalist and his son were martyred on Tuesday in an Israeli occupation bombing that targeted their home in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
The local Al-Quds Al-Youm channel said in a statement, “The channel’s journalist, Salem Abu Tayur, and his son Hamza were martyred in an Israeli attack on their house in the Nuseirat camp.”
The channel added: “As we mourn a new colleague on the path to Jerusalem and liberation, we affirm our continuation of our media message of resistance.”
Palestinians, including journalists, performed the funeral prayer for Abu Tayur and his son in the courtyard of the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs” Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the middle of the Gaza Strip, before they were buried in the city cemetery.

According to a previous statement by the government media office in Gaza, last Thursday, the number of “martyr journalists” has reached 141 since October 7, 2023.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have been waging a devastating war on Gaza, which has left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and famine and massive destruction, according to Palestinian and UN data.
Israel continues this war despite the issuance of an immediate ceasefire resolution by the UN Security Council, and despite its appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing "genocide."
