The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the Israeli occupation war on the Strip since October 7 had risen to 30,000 martyrs, while the United Nations warned that an Israeli attack on Rafah would deal a fatal blow to aid programs in Gaza.
Today (Monday), the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Strip since October 7 has risen to “29,782 martyrs and 70,043 injured.”
The ministry said in a statement that it had monitored "the occupation committing 10 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 90 martyrs and 164 injuries during the past 24 hours."
She added: "There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the roads, and the occupation prevents ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them."
He continued: "The toll of the Israeli aggression has risen to 29,782 martyrs and 70,043 injured since the seventh of last October."
Occupation bombing in the center and south of the Gaza Strip
Meanwhile, Wafa News Agency reported that at least 7 civilians were martyred and dozens injured in occupation bombing in the central and southern Gaza Strip, on the 143rd day of the ongoing aggression against the Strip.
Local sources reported that two civilians were killed east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, coinciding with the occupation artillery shelling of the Al-Mughraqa area.
She added that the occupation forces targeted the Al-Fokhari area, east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, and the occupation naval boats fired heavy machine guns towards the coast of Khan Yunis, which led to the death of two fishermen, in conjunction with a raid east of the governorate.
Three civilians were martyred in the occupation bombing of a house north of the city of Rafah, and a number of citizens were injured as a result of the occupation bombing of an apartment in the Al-Geneina neighborhood in the east.
The occupation naval boats also fired heavy machine guns on the shore of the city of Rafah, according to what the agency reported.
The death toll of occupation soldiers increased
On the other hand, the Israeli army announced, on Monday, that an officer and 4 soldiers were seriously injured in battles in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, on Sunday.
The army said in a post on the X platform: “Yesterday, an officer from the Paratroopers Brigade was seriously injured during a battle that took place in the southern Gaza Strip.”
He added: "Yesterday, a soldier from a paratroopers brigade and a soldier from the Yalam unit were seriously injured during a battle that took place in the southern Gaza Strip."
He continued: "In addition, yesterday two soldiers from the 601st Battalion were seriously injured during the battle in the northern Gaza Strip."
The Israeli army statement did not reveal any details about the circumstances of the battles during which its members were injured.
According to army data on its website, 2,966 officers and soldiers have been injured since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, including 1,400 during ground battles that began on the 27th of the same month.
Official Israeli data also indicate that 580 officers and soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war on Gaza, including 240 during ground battles.
In this context, TRT news correspondent, Rabi Al-Ajrami, said that the Al-Qassam Brigades - the military wing of the Hamas movement - announced the destruction of an Israeli Merkava tank with an “Al-Yassin 105” shell in Abasan Al-Kabira, east of the city of Khan Yunis.
She explained that Al-Qassam fighters targeted an Israeli force of 4 soldiers, and “finished them from zero distance” in Abasan Al-Kabira, in light of the intensification of battles in Khan Yunis.
"Life or death for children"
In this context, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that delivering aid is a matter of life and death for children in the Gaza Strip.
UNICEF added in a statement that the needs in Gaza are urgent and enormous, especially water, food, medicine and fuel, stressing that an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza will provide the best opportunity to save lives and end suffering.
In turn, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Monday that an Israeli attack on Rafah would deal a fatal blow to aid programs in Gaza, as humanitarian aid remains “completely insufficient.”
In a speech before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Guterres said that a comprehensive attack on the city located in the southern Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt “would not only be horrific for the more than a million Palestinian civilians who have taken refuge there, but it would also be the final nail in the coffin of the program.” Our aid."
The final nail in the aid coffin Guterres warns of the attack on Rafah
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stressed the importance of the city of Rafah as an essential entry point for humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. He considered that any attack on it would be the final nail in the aid coffin.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres renewed his call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, warning of the danger of the potential Israeli attack on the city of Rafah (south), with regard to humanitarian aid programmes.
Guterres said in a speech before the Human Rights Council in Geneva, on Monday, that “Rafah is the core of the humanitarian aid operation, and UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) is the backbone of this effort.”
He warned that "any comprehensive Israeli attack on the city would not only be terrifying for more than a million Palestinian civilians who have taken refuge there, but would also put the final nail in the coffin of the aid programs we provide."
Guterres reiterated his call for a “humanitarian ceasefire, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages (Israeli detainees in Gaza).”
He stressed that the UN Security Council is often “at a dead end, unable to act on the most important peace and security issues of our time.”
He stressed: “We urgently need a new commitment to all human rights (civil, cultural, economic, political and social) as they apply to peace and security, supported by serious efforts at implementation and accountability.
“We must not become indifferent to the horrific and repeated violations of international humanitarian and human rights law,” Guterres added.
Although the International Court of Justice issued temporary orders to Israel on January 26 in the “genocide” case brought by South Africa, Tel Aviv continues daily to challenge these orders through military policies and procedures that increase the catastrophic suffering of about 2.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to To local and international sources.
These policies include continuing to launch intensive and indiscriminate attacks on Gaza, reducing the already scarce humanitarian aid, continuing ground invasions into residential areas, and attacks on hospitals as part of a devastating war that has been ongoing since October 7, 2023.
The humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip generally meets only 7% of the population’s needs for all food and relief supplies, according to UNRWA.
Since the outbreak of the war, Gaza has suffered from a scarcity of food, water, medicine, and fuel supplies due to Israeli restrictions, which has caused an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, and many areas in the Strip are on the brink of famine, according to the United Nations.
