The Regime Finale Ending Explained: What Had Happened In The End?
In the end, the rebels took over Elena’s palace and left her alone in the wilderness, making survival seem impossible. However, the situation is more complicated. Although the rebels control the palace, the country is still in conflict.
Despite Elena’s actions, she still has supporters in her hometown region, which complicates the rebels’ ability to maintain control without her official resignation.
Emil Bartos and the Americans have interests in the country’s cobalt mines and want Elena back in power to secure their profits and prevent Chinese influence in Central Europe.
They offer Elena support in exchange for her cooperation. Elena is torn between loyalty to her deceased father and her close relationship with Zubak. Elena’s complex relationship with her deceased father influences her actions, as does her attachment to Zubak, despite betraying him.
Elena feels guilt but also relies on him for support, much like she did with her father. Strangely, Zubak replaces her father in her life. Despite external influences, Elena’s character remains unchanged, seeking security and guidance from those she trusts.
