The Regime is a miniseries starring Kate Winslet in a new role in this anticipated political drama. The Regime was previously titled The Palace, and the story takes place “within the palace walls of a classic European, authoritarian regime.”
As the Chancellor (Kate Winslet) gives all she has to keep the authoritarian Regime afloat, the narrative is acutely aware of its approaching demise.
The Regime Official Teaser
The Regime trailer features Kate Winslet as the Chancellor of a collapsing authoritarian regime.
The roughly 2-minute trailer summarizes the political agenda, with Kate Winslet as the American Chancellor attempting to tighten her grasp before her political kingdom crumbles to lose.
While the show’s official logline initially led us to believe it would be an intense political drama, the recently released trailer leans solidly towards satire.
The trailer features Winslet as the Chancellor of a fictitious European autocrat as her mighty position is threatened by plenty of domestic problems. Corporal Zuber (Schoenaerts), a “nobody” soldier, is one of the few people she trusts, although she keeps many of her friends, rivals, and even her husband at bay.
Corporal Zubak, played by Schoenaerts, is just the type of boot-licking man Winslet’s Chancellor needs on her side as she rises to the top of the political ladder.
While she managed just fine, terrorizing her inner circle, the Corporal’s assistance and allegiance put an extra bounce in her dictatorial step. Corporal Zubak, an actual ride-or-die type, immediately falls in line with the Chancellor, supporting all her decisions – no matter how ridiculous. The trailer is packed with dark humor.

The Cast and Crew of The Regime
Aside from its compelling story, The Regime trailer also highlights the diverse cast of the HBO limited series.
Firstly, Winslet is the face of it all, having received Oscar nominations for her roles in Titanic, Iris, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, & Steve Jobs. Judging the latest trailer for The Regime, Winslet is in line for yet another Emmy nomination.
Aside from Winslet, most of The Regime cast members have won Oscars or Emmys. Riseborough (To Leslie) portrays the Palace Manager as the Chancellor’s right-hand lady. Plimpton (The Good Wife) is the United States Secretary of State who works to preserve American interests in the fictitious European country.
Grant (HBO’s The Undoing) portrays the Leader of the Opposition, whose detention sparks significant public outrage. The six-episode limited-run series is also directed by Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs, who have directed The Queen and episodes of The Crown, respectively.
The Regime will air on HBO in the United States on March 3, 2024.]
