However, despite his request and a remarkable win, UFC 300 awarded the bonuses to other fighters.

During a candid interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Moicano elaborated on his request to be paid in Bitcoin.

“I hope that means $300k. 100%. Money is a tough topic, you know, because $300k today in dollars ten years from now – we don’t know how much Bitcoin is going to be, but probably that will [be] worth much more than dollars in ten years. That’s my opinion. The way the economy is doing, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the inflation is kicking in again and the [interest] rates, I think they will go high and I think Bitcoin is going to be even better than dollar,” Moicano said.

Moicano’s stance on cryptocurrency aligns with a growing trend among athletes to diversify their wealth through digital assets. Additionally, Khabib Nurmagomedov, a distinguished name in the UFC, has also endorsed cryptocurrency integration, even opting to pay fighters in his promotion, ‘Eagle FC,’ in Bitcoin.

The burgeoning interest in cryptocurrency payments in the UFC spotlights the broader discussion about payment options for athletes in high-risk sports. Furthermore, with inflation and economic uncertainty at the forefront of financial discourse, Moicano’s preference for Bitcoin reflects a savvy financial security and investment approach.

After all, as the conversation around cryptocurrency evolves, Moicano’s push for Bitcoin bonuses may influence the future structure of fighter payouts. With the currency’s fluctuating value, the narrative surrounding digital assets in the competitive world of UFC is one to watch.
