Fox News' Karl Rove on Friday couldn't find a way to spin the disastrous spat that erupted between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Shortly after the meeting between the two men concluded, Rove delivered a somber assessment of what just transpired.
"The only winner here today is Vladimir Putin," he said. "This was a mistake to have it broadcast. It was a mistake for Zelenskyy to get his dander up. It was a mistake for the president and vice president to be so public in their comments. This was not a moment that should have been televised."
Rove then speculated that Trump and Zelensky could have come to some sort of agreement had they kept these discussions behind closed doors.

"But it's really hard when you've had the kind of coverage of this moment that they've now had," he said.
Zelensky and Trump had been expected to sign a deal related to giving the United States mineral rights in Ukraine, but the Ukrainian president left the White House shortly after the tumultuous meeting with Trump.
