Three prison officers shot dead as gunmen attack jail van & free inmate as vehicle stopped at tollbooth in France

THREE prison officers were shot dead when they were ambushed while transporting an inmate today.

Armed attackers pounced on the convoy at a tollbooth and helped the prisoner to escape.

They are now on the run along with two vehicles, one of which was found burned and abandoned earlier today.

The escaped prisoner, Mohamed A, is known for drug trafficking.

The attack happened near Eure, in Normandy, north west France as the van stopped at a tollbooth in Incarville.
