Tourist bus plunges off cliff at iconic landmark as locals try to stop it rolling down mountain with their bare hands

DOZENS of tourists have been injured after a bus carrying them back to their hotels from Machu Picchu plunged down a steep bank.

The bus fell 50 feet after the driver lost control of the motor while he negotiated the mountain road connecting the tourist attraction with the town of Aguas Calientes.

Several of the 30 victims suffered broken bones.

It was not immediately clear if there were any British or Irish casualties, although most of the injured are reported to be from Italy and South and Central America.
