  • TRON has announced that it is now a member of the Chainlink Scale program and has officially adopted Chainlink’s Data Feeds as its official Oracle solution.
  • It joins Hedera, which became a member of Scale earlier this week, and most of the other top blockchain networks globally.

Oracles are the lifeblood of the blockchain sector, linking on-chain smart contracts to the real world and allowing decentralized applications to utilize real-world data. Chainlink has been the undisputed leader in this sector for years and has become the default Oracle services provider for most top blockchains and applications. The latest to join the ever-growing ecosystem is TRON.

The TRON DAO announced Thursday that the network will now rely on Chainlink Data Feeds, the leading and most versatile oracles in the market.

Once upgraded, TRON DAO will discontinue its support for @WinkLink_Oracle & $6.5B+ in DeFi TVL will become secured by Chainlink.#RoadToSmartConhttps://t.co/gbk3oHrkoU pic.twitter.com/rqRZyRMtx8

The DAO has discontinued WINkLink, the Oracle solution it previously relied on. The entire TRON DeFi ecosystem will now be transitioned into the new solution “for secure and reliable pricing data.” This includes JustLend and JustStable, the two largest DeFi applications on TRON, which collectively hold over $6.5 billion in total value locked.

The transition is part of TRON DAO’s decision to join the Chainlink Scale program. Under this program, any blockchain network gets access to Chainlink’s oracles and, in exchange, covers the operating costs of the oracles for a predetermined length of time. It’s part of Chainalysis Economics 2.0, which is focused on improving security and utility while reducing the operating costs of Oracle services.

TRON says that by joining Chainlink Scale, it’s giving its users access to the highest quality Oracle services. In the meantime, it will cover the costs of the Oracles but expects the dApps in its ecosystem to cover these fees in the future once they mature.

TRON Welcomes Chainlink Oracles

Commenting on the move, Chainlink Labs’ Thodoris Karakostas said that he was thrilled by TRON’s decision to join the growing list of networks on Chainlink Scale “to further secure the foundation of the TRON DeFi economy.” He added:

By delivering highly reliable, accurate, and decentralized market data onchain, Chainlink will further empower TRON ecosystem developers to build next-gen DeFi applications and advance the decentralized internet.

Sam Elfarra, a community spokesperson at TRON DAO added that the ecosystem had joined the Scale program “to accelerate TRON’s DeFi economy by offering developers access to the industry-leading data oracle solution. Chainlink’s unmatched security and reliability made it the clear choice as TRON’s official oracle provider. This integration enables us to focus on scaling our ecosystem and further driving mass adoption in the blockchain industry.”

Chainlink is unrivaled in the oracles sector. Its oracles have now facilitated over $16 trillion and securely delivered over 15 billion messages. It has attracted most of the major networks, with the HBAR Foundation revealing that Hedera had become a member earlier this week.

LINK trades at $12, unaffected by the announcement as it traded sideways over the past day.
