Things aren't going well for former President Donald Trump in the defamation trial brought by author E. Jean Carroll on Tuesday. Even Judge Lewis Kaplan hushed Trump's longtime adviser, Boris Epshteyn, at one point. Politico legal reporter Eric Orden posted on Xitter just after 3:00 pm that "Trump appears to have left the courthouse for the day." Everything seemed to be against the twice-impeached, multiply charged former President, including the seating in the courtroom, which he wasn't happy about.
The Judge told the nine jurors that they must accept as true that Trump forcibly sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll and defamed her when he denied it. "His false statements tended to disparage Ms. Carroll or tended to expose her to hatred or to induce an unsavory opinion of her," he said.
"Ms. Carroll did not make up her claim of forcible sexual abuse," Judge Kaplan told the jurors.
