They made a Mayday call after seeing they were starting to take on water

A Panamanian-flagged vessel named locally as Green Power is said to have responded by heading to the area they were in along with a Civil Guard vessel.

The four people onboard were rushed to Tenerife South Airport onboard a chopper before being taken to a hospital.

It is not clear as to why they went into the sea before getting lost.

Coastguards and investigative authorities are yet to comment.
