Hamilton, Canada - The United Nations (UN) said that more than 565,000 people have crossed into northern Gaza from southern Gaza since January 27.
In addition, data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) shows that 45 thousand people "moved from North Gaza to South Gaza," said UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric in a press conference, Tuesday (4/2).
Dujarric said the UN and its partners were "working to mitigate the impact of the extensive destruction of critical water and sanitation infrastructure that has occurred across the Gaza Strip."
Regarding President Donald Trump's plan to withdraw the United States from the UN Human Rights Council and block funding for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, a UN spokesman said, "We will see what is signed."
"The US will implement the decision it makes. It has no impact on our position on the importance of the UN Human Rights Council," Dujarric said.
The US decision will not change the UN's commitment "to continue to support UNRWA and its work to provide essential services to the Palestinian people under its jurisdiction and mandate," the UN spokesman said.
