US dock workers agree to deal with port operators, end crippling strike

One of the biggest work stoppages in nearly 50 years came to an end on Thursday as US dockworkers and port operators reached an agreement that would implement a 62% wage increase over six years. Dockworkers will resume unloading of container ships immediately and both parties agreed to revisit the deal in January 2025, with issues such as the threat of automation to job security still unresolved.
