US Supreme Court rejects Colorado ruling disqualifying Trump from running in primary elections

The US Supreme Court overturned a Colorado court ruling that Donald Trump was ineligible to run in the Republican primary elections due to his involvement in the attack on the Capitol in January 2021.

"The Colorado Supreme Court's ruling cannot stand. All nine members of the court agree with this finding," the court said in its decision.

Trump welcomed the Supreme Court's decision and considered it a "huge win" for the United States.

Earlier, the Colorado Supreme Court banned Trump from participating in the presidential primaries in the state for next year.

Stephen Chung, spokesman for Donald Trump's campaign, considered the Colorado court's decision wrong and said it would be appealed.
