Regarding the issue, the director of the Alushta Aquarium, Victor Jelenko, said: “There is a fear of the invasion of the dangerous predatory grouper fish into the Black Sea region. This type of fish lives mostly in the Mediterranean Sea.”
He added: "Last February, the Alushta Aquarium announced a reward of 5,000 rubles for every fish caught. A few days ago, fishermen were able to catch 3 fish of this type off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula, and we took measurements of them to monitor their growth rates."
Jelenko pointed out that the grouper fish appears to be exploring a new water area and is entering the Black Sea waters in small groups, but there are risks of a dangerous invasion of these fish into the Black Sea region and an increase in their numbers there.
