The coordinator of field hospitals in Gaza, Marwan Al-Hams, said yesterday, Tuesday, “The health situation in the Strip is very catastrophic and is deteriorating due to the Israeli occupation army targeting hospitals, and some patients are dying due to lack of medicines.”
He added: “Nasser Medical Complex in the city of Khan Yunis is crowded with sick and wounded people, and we are suffering from a sanitation problem in the vicinity of the hospital due to the targeting of it and its surroundings” by the Israeli occupation army, noting that “we do not have enough beds in the hospital to receive more patients and wounded, and the medical stock is running out.” Some patients die due to lack of medicines,” according to Anadolu.
Al-Hams pointed out that infectious diseases are spreading in the camps for the displaced, especially hepatitis, and that insects are spreading around hospitals and camps due to sewage, stressing that “famine is killing (people) in the northern Gaza Strip and we cannot save children from malnutrition... and that water If it reaches the tents of the displaced, it will arrive contaminated and undrinkable.”
Earlier Tuesday, the government media office in Gaza said that famine was accelerating in the Strip, and warned that 3,500 children were at risk of death as a result of malnutrition.
The office indicated in a statement that “the Israeli occupation and the American administration insist on putting 2.4 million civilians in the Gaza Strip into a famine tunnel, perpetuating the policy of starvation against children and the sick, and preventing the entry of food and medicine, in a dangerous and inhumane manner.”
On May 7, the Israeli occupation army took control of the Rafah crossing, a day after Tel Aviv announced the start of a military operation in the city crowded with displaced people, which exacerbated the humanitarian situation due to the scarcity of aid. Due to the war and Israeli restrictions that violate international laws, the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip suffer from a severe scarcity of food, water and medicine supplies, to the point of recording deaths caused by hunger.
Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with absolute American support, leaving tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, putting Tel Aviv into international isolation and causing it to be prosecuted before the International Court of Justice.
