Footage shows guests – still dressed in their fancy attire – receiving help from the paramedics at the venue.
In one video, two women appear to have had vomited as they were slumping in a chair.
In a separate clip, people can be seen on the hospital beds receiving IV treatment as 80 guests had to be rushed to the medical facility.
One of the attendees, Aranza Rodriguez, told local newspaper Proceso that she was treated for bacterial infection at a Red Cross hospital.
Rodriguez was invited by the groom, Fernando, and the wedding party started around 4pm with dinner due to be served at 6pm.
She recalled arriving later – between 8pm and 9pm – and witnessing other guests already falling ill.
Despite the disturbing spectacle, Rodriguez proceeded to order her food and dined at around 10pm when the ambulances started to arrive.
She was served wild mushrooms with goat cheese and tomato coulis as the appetiser and chicken breast stuffed with spinach, tarragon and sweet potato puree for the main course.
She said that men and women were offered different menus but both genders ended up with the symptoms.
Rodriguez wasn’t sure which food item made her sick, but remembers that wild mushrooms had a “very strong chemical” aftertaste.
She said she had to be carried away and doesn’t remember how she made it to the hospital where she was given an intravenous liquid and prescribed medicine to treat her bacterial infection.
Most of the guests were released from the hospital within four to five hours but several remained in the facility as of Monday, Azteca Noticias reported.
Rodriguez added that the groom, Fernando, and the bride, Paola, provided assistance to the guests who became sick.
Grupo Paraiso, the catering company which was hired for the wedding, has not commented on the incident.
