The Spoons dupe is found along the Costa del Sol

The venue is loved by tourists looking for the comforts of a classic British boozer against a backdrop of Spanish sunshine and palm trees.

Now it has achieved such a boost in fame that it’s rated by Tripadvisor the no.2 ranked pub or bar in Benalmadena – out of 117.

It also claimed a Travellers’ Choice gong for 2023, boasting a rating of 4.5 on the travel website from 194 reviews.

Value and atmosphere categories are both ranked 5/5.

Weatherspains sells Brit staples from gammon, chips and pears, sausage and mash and deep filled pies.

Jacket potatoes, sandwiches, burgers, salads and desserts are also on the menu.

They pour a range of cocktails and pints with the sunny outdoor seating one feature Spoons’ back home struggle to offer.

On Google, Weatherspains has earned an overall 4.6 rating from 440 reviews.

Kirsty Mitchell last week wrote: “Lovely staff, nice food and very cheap will be back!”

Another review said: “I try and come here every time I come to this area.

“Owner a really nice guy and very hard working.

“Good food and a nice pint. Worth coming just for the bar’s name.”

Another punter pointed out that the view of the sea “makes this a great spot to call into”.

Copycat venues are not unheard of, with a fake BrewDog – the popular British beer company – seen in China, even complete with logos.

But chief executive James Watt took it as a compliment.

He wrote on Instagram: “It’s not every day someone pays you the compliment of copying what you do.

“I mean, I’ll admit we were surprised when we saw a picture of the bar you’ve constructed in our image, but mainly we were peculiarly proud.”

The Sun contacted Spoons for comment about their Spanish admirers.
