Since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, the Republican stronghold of Texas has become one of 22 states banning abortion, including in cases of incest or rape. Doctors who perform terminations risk imprisonment, and Texan women are reduced to having dangerous illegal abortions at home or travelling to other states.
