The Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel quoted a source in the Executive Office of FIFA as confirming that the Kingdom will become the first country to host the World Cup alone in the new format with the participation of 48 teams.

The source confirmed that all 104 World Cup matches in 2034 will be distributed across the regions of the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia will thus become the first country to host the finals alone after expanding the tournament to include 48 teams, with the 2026 edition being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The next edition of the World Cup will be held in 2030 in Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with three matches being held in South America, specifically in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, to celebrate the centenary of the competition (Uruguay hosted the first World Cup in 1930).

Saudi Arabia will become the third Arab country to organize the tournament after Qatar, which organized the 2022 World Cup, and Morocco, which will participate in hosting the 2030 World Cup.
