With Gaza's most important hospitals about to be out of service warnings of a "humanitarian catastrophe"

The government media office in the Gaza Strip warned on Friday that the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah would run out of fuel within 48 hours, threatening the cessation of health services and the occurrence of a humanitarian crisis, after the occupation closed the Strip’s crossings for the sixth day in a row.

The government media said in a statement, “The administration of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Central Governorate announced that fuel is about to run out within the next 48 hours, and thus the health and medical service has stopped.”

He added: "The supply of fuel to the last hospital providing health services in the Gaza Strip stopped after the occupation destroyed the health sector and the medical system and completely removed 33 hospitals from service."

The government media in Gaza held the occupation, the United States, and all relevant parties “fully responsible for any real disaster or crisis that may occur at any moment due to the exhaustion of fuel in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.”

He pointed out that "this crisis may result in deaths that may occur to patients and children, especially the sick and wounded hospitalized in intensive care and nursery departments."

He called on UN organizations and international institutions to urgently supply fuel to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital before it is too late.

He also called for immediate and urgent intervention to supply all hospitals with fuel, and to rehabilitate and restore them before a humanitarian catastrophe occurs that kills thousands of Palestinians.

For the sixth day, the Israeli occupation forces continue to close the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing on the border with Gaza, while the Rafah crossing on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt continues to close for the fourth day after announcing control over it on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday morning, the Israeli occupation army claimed to reopen the Kerem Shalom crossing after its closure on Sunday, to bring aid into Gaza, in response to the request of US President Joe Biden, but the crossings authority denied the validity of reopening the crossing.

Since the closure of the two crossings, no humanitarian aid, fuel, medicines or medical supplies have entered the Gaza Strip, threatening a humanitarian catastrophe, according to UN and official Palestinian warnings.

Since October 7, the Israeli occupation forces have been waging a war on Gaza, leaving about 113,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and also despite the fact that the International Court of Justice asked it to take immediate measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
