 Hugues Fabrice Zango takes gold

Burkinabe athlete Hugues Fabrice Zango won the gold medal on Saturday evening with a jump of 17.53m.

This victory in the triple jump event comes as part of the world indoor athletics championships which are currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is the third success for Hugues Fabrice Zango since the start of 2024, after these successes at the Eure meeting and that of Liévin, in France.

Hugues Fabrice Zango is indeed a source of inspiration for the young Burkinabes who watch him.

"It's very important. You know, we don't have big names in sport in Burkina Faso and we need examples like this. We need examples like me to really bring something new in sports policy in Burkina Faso. Since 2019, when I started winning medals on the international scene, the Ministry of Sports started sponsoring young athletes. They are starting to do things for us. So I am very "happy to be one of the first medalists. One of the first big names in sport in my country.", he said.

After the title of outdoor triple jump world champion won on August 21, 2023 in Budapest, Hungary with a jump of 17.64m, the Doctor in electrical engineering hopes to offer Burkina Faso its first Olympic gold medal, during of the Games which will be held in Paris next July.
