Spot both animals in this ancient optical illusion in 7 seconds[/caption]Besides being a remarkable piece of art from the Chola dynasty, it is also a fascinating optical illusion – and one of the earliest known examples.
And the puzzle can also reveal the viewer’s personality traits, according to folklore surrounding the temple.
The challenge is to spot both animals sharing a single head in the picture.
And you just have seven seconds to complete the puzzle.
So buckle up, set your timers and test your puzzle-solving skills.
Optical illusions are visuals designed to trick our minds and can be a simple IQ test.
They test our understanding of reality, depth and perspective as we try to understand what’s in front of us.
Optical illusions benefits
RESEARCHERS have developed many tests that show how various brain regions react to optical illusions.
They are not only entertaining, but they also shed light on how our brains interpret visual data.
By giving your brain a little workout on a regular basis, you enhance your ability to focus and observe details.
Studies have shown, people who regularly challenge themselves with optical illusions and puzzles see big improvements in their problem-solving skills, concentration and attention.
Improved concentration and attention span, in turn, can help prevent cognitive decline in older age.
Psychologists at The University of Glasgow found that staring at an optical illusion can improve eyesight by allowing you to see small print.
And this puzzle will surely put your attention and intelligence to the test as you aim to spot both animals.
But before you start this challenge, try and see if you can find the cheeky ghost trying to blend in within this party scene in a super quick time.
If you can then you have the watchful eyes of a clever spirit but beware they are very good at keeping secrets.
You can also try and spot all five differences between the two identical pictures.
Or have a go at finding the sausage that definitely shouldn’t be in with the fruit and vegetables.
Coming back to the challenge, were you able to solve it?
If you didn’t see it, look again carefully.
Still no luck? Do not worry, we have got you covered.
The stone carving shows an elephant and a bull that appear to share the same head – and there is a unique way to spot them both.
If you cover up the body of the creature on the left, the animal on the right appears to be an elephant.
But if you focus on the left-hand beast, it looks like a bull with its head raised to the sky.
However you can’t see both at the same time – and that’s just how the sculptors intended it almost a millennium ago.
If you see the bull first, it apparently means you are stubborn and ferocious.
You know how to stay strong and positive in times when it may seem impossible.
If you see the elephant first, that is said to signify you are loyal and respectful of your friends and family.
You are thoughtful and considerate and treat people with kindness and respect.
Cheers if you were able to solve this twisted challenge in less than seven seconds – you are a genius with a perfect 20/20 vision.
